SPEAKER_00You're the man of this podcast as well. Good morning. Good morning. Live from Smoggy, New York. Good morning. I woke up with you. We had coffee together. I ate I ate those overnight oats with vet with fruits on top that you told me not to eat.
SPEAKER_01Oh, yeah, there's currently explosive diarrhea being transmitted via produce. So and I'm scared of my fruits and vegetables.
SPEAKER_00I was gonna eat them anyway, but you made me feel like I'm gonna explode if I eat them. So we'll see. Okay. We'll see how that goes.
SPEAKER_01No, I I don't understand. It's in the vegetables? Yeah, it's something. There's some sort of parasitic diarrhea infection going around via like let they think it's in like in lettuce, but they're not sure. They're saying to wash all of to to cook all of your vegetables, including fruit. To cook your fruit? Yeah. For now. That's good. Because we don't know where it's from. There's not fruit anymore, it's comput. I guess you could like grill a peach. Oh, that is good. You could grill a peach, even though I don't think that gets it hot enough to kill the parasites. Anyway, stay safe out there.
Fan Mail From A Longtime Listener
SPEAKER_01Um I wanted to start us off with some fan mail that we got via our our Buzzsprout website.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_01Dear Modi and Leo, I wanted to write a note that is probably about 20 years overdue. I've been a Modi fan since I was about 10 years old. I first saw him perform at the Nevali during Paysoch and the Cat Skills. My parents got the Where Have They Been Booking Me album, and I was completely obsessed. For years, I watched whatever clips I could find and followed his career from afar. Fast forward to COVID, and suddenly I start hearing that Modi is blowing up. I'm not much of a social media person, so I mostly caught little drips and drabs what was happening through friends, but I was thrilled to see the success. I saw the City Winery Show in Boston, missed the first Wilbur appearance because I was away on military service, and then got to see the March show just before Pesoch. I've brought friends, recommended shows, shared clips, and probably recruited a few audience members along the way. What I somehow never did was listen to the podcast. I'm not really a podcast person. The few I listen to are mostly scripted history programs. This is certainly not that. Talk shows have never been my thing. After the Boston show in March, I finally decided to give Anne Here's Modi a try, and I just finished every episode. Wow. All 180 plus of them. And I can honestly say I'm grateful I started. Over the past few months, the podcast has been a real companion during a challenging season of life. Beyond the laughs, I found a surprising amount of spiritual depth in the conversations, the discussions about oneness, the age of Mashiach, and approaching Davening with intention. I think there was more, but I think there's a character limit and they got cut off. Um so I wanted to share that with you because I have
Clean Comedy And The Old CD
SPEAKER_01not even heard or seen the Where Have They Been Booking Me album.
SPEAKER_00Oh, it's not to see. That is a I haven't seen a physical copy, I mean. Um it's in our house.
SPEAKER_01Okay. It's a C D. It's a C D? That was from Birmingham, Alabama, by the way. Wow.
SPEAKER_00I can't see the name though. Yeah, it's C D I tape, you know. I never really got like behind it because I cursed on that album. Really?
SPEAKER_01Let's talk about that because you were just dissecting with me how funny it is that you are sort of labeled a clean comedian given that the verbiage in your household was very not clean.
SPEAKER_00Well, not not my household. My father, when he spoke English, every other word was was an F or an S bomb. Uh you know, we it okay. This hit me on the dance floor. You know, when you're on the dance floor and you're dancing and your your mind goes into all kinds of places, yeah. I was just thinking about how funny it is that I'm known as a as a I'm known as a clean comedian, but in my house, whenever my father spoke to us and English was involved, you know, which was rare, it would be all F and S because he he I got he learned his English in Brooklyn. Right. Little I'm imagine Little Mo Mutzerel teaching my father English. That's how he that's how he learnt English in Brooklyn.
SPEAKER_01Fill in spaces. Fill in space and like accentuate certain things. Right. In a in a way that kind of sets you up to do it a lot.
SPEAKER_00It also fills it fills gaps. So if ever I'm trying new material, and that's when sometimes curses pop out. Yeah, I've noticed that. Because you just need something to stick in there to fill the the void.
SPEAKER_01So on where have they been booking me the album, you feel like you cursed a lot, maybe out of uh just being green?
SPEAKER_00I remember the night, I remember the night the audience was um the audience was very rowdy. It was at the comic strip live, and they were like they kind of brought it out of me. And back then you just I taped it once. I didn't like do a two-taping. We'll do it live. Do it live, we'll go live, literally. We'll go live F and S and just all that. Um, the material was was fun and good, and it kind of like even called for it for a little cursing in it, but that's why I never really talk about it.
SPEAKER_01Well, we should probably I should probably find that and select little snippets and put it on the podcast pages like audio with text.

Parents In Florida And Family Stories
SPEAKER_00go. Yeah, by the way, I went last night to visit my parents and then to um to the Oh, to the Rebbe's grave site, because that's what I do. And just to let everybody know that my parents, Batia and Saul Rosenfeld, are heading to Florida this winter. That is happening.
SPEAKER_01They are looking the social anchor event. It's gonna be a major thing. Batia will be in South Florida in full force.
SPEAKER_00In Century Village, Boca Ratan.
SPEAKER_01She's gonna tear that up.
SPEAKER_00She's gonna kill it. It's all Israelis, it's all Israelis there. There's there's a kibbutz, it's a there's a kibbutz within that within that book of all Israelis, and so she's gonna be down there, and they're already planning sending the car and sending the it's uh, you know, they're 84 and 90 years old. It's not like uh, you know, just it's still cursing. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, I had him on. I taped him last night. He was telling me some story literally about he was telling some story about how he bought some a bat back in the day, he bought like a business and whatever it was, but he bought it from an Italian guy on a with a handshake instead of a contract, and it's like it was just very, very just like descriptive. I just keep I just kept the phone on him. He was good last night, he was on last night, you know.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, well speaking of dance floor thoughts.
Croatia Festival And Dance Floor Lessons
SPEAKER_01Yes, so we were in Croatia, that's why there's been a little bit of a lapse in the podcast. We took two weeks off. Um we went to a music festival in Croatia and um it's called Love International, and it takes place at this festival ground that's like on a beach, and there's different stages, and it's kind of like I don't know how would you describe the music?
SPEAKER_00So the music is uh uh very good. It was it was just good to listen to nice to hear good music. Yeah. And it was and you're in four different stages. So if you get a little bored here, you to take a little walk, yeah, go to another place and you see where this DJ's holding and hang out there for a little while, and you can shift over, and they had food and they had drinks and they had youth. There were a lot of young. Yeah, the youth were there. The youth were you thing. The youth were you thing. Did you feel old? I I felt I was at the higher end of the age. There were people my age there. Yes, there were.
SPEAKER_01There were people my age there. They were mostly around the wine bar.
SPEAKER_00If you notice, no, they weren't.
SPEAKER_01There was a separate wine bar. Remember, I pointed out as like, oh, this isn't a real bar, they only serve wine, and they're all kind of just there. They weren't in the music, but they were hearing the music.
SPEAKER_00Oh, come on. Yeah. There were people there who yes, they were. You're right. I remember that those those three guys. Yeah. Yeah. Um, no, but we I went to dance. You do know what it feels like to check your phone when you get home at 4 or 5 a.m. and it says 26,000 steps. That's night cardio.
SPEAKER_01That's night cardio. I I weighed myself this morning after a full week of not going to the gym and eating whatever I want, and I lost weight. Yeah. That always happens in Europe. It's because the food here is poison, i.e., our earlier conversation, the explosive diarrhea produce. But we were also dancing five, six hours. Yeah, we like nonstop. We weren't one of the dance floor thoughts I had. Yeah. Because you know, you do some unpacking when you're just kind of disassociating for hours on the dance floor. Yeah. And I was thinking about how grateful and appreciative I am for all of the material objects that I have. I'm I'm so lucky that I have nice things. I'm so lucky that I have nice clothes, and I'm so appreciative. But I also want to work on detaching myself from them. Like I don't I don't value them. I'm not bound to my possessions. They're just material things. And I can be, I wanted to, I was thinking about striking that balance of like appreciative, but also not being attached to it. And and I was kind of trying to dissect that in my mind. Anyway, cut two, we
Lost Luggage And Airline Paperwork
SPEAKER_01get to the airport. My luggage is lost. It still has not arrived. All of my clothes are moisturizers gone. According to my Apple AirTag, it's here in America now, but uh floating somewhere in Brooklyn on a truck that will hopefully be at our apartment. Yeah, all my toiletries, all of my expensive skincare.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Um that you you want to reattach with. I would like to reattach with the skincare. Yeah. The clothes, honestly, I mean, I didn't bring any. It's just a lot of clothes. I I overpacked because I didn't know what I wanted to wear.
SPEAKER_00And now it's all so that's why what when I travel and I travel with I when when I check in a bag, I always make sure in my handbag I have an outfit for a show. I do that too. I usually have uh a change of clothes in my I I have an outfit for a show and I never check in my shoes and belt because my shoes and belt are like everything else you can buy. But the shoes and belt you grow attached to and you you work you work into them, and they're very expensive, my shoes and belts.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00So I always take them out there and a full suit, and just in case anything land, and there's no there's no two days of getting that bag. So I always make sure you're carrying a suit and uh and my and obviously whatever not toiletry, but more like the pills. Yeah. Your your your meds. Your meds. Um and uh so that but it was crazy that you just lose your luggage.
SPEAKER_01Like they just and it's really crazy that you now work for the airline. Oh, yeah. You lose your luggage, and now I work for KLM. I uh I am tracking it myself, I am submitting paperwork. I I did had to do like an over an hour of admin yesterday over this tab.
SPEAKER_00To find out that they all made a mistake because we bought our tickets on Delta, yeah, but the fight was KLM. So we we went to go check in with the service desk at Delta, and she filled everything out full numbers, and here's your reference number, and here's your this, and make sure the this is the right address and this is your right uh delta number, and this is your delta this. And then we call the next day to check in, and he goes, We have no record of anything. None of that exists, none of that exists. This bag doesn't show up anywhere. I don't know what reference number you have. We filled this whole thing out. Yeah, we we had paperwork showing that there's reference numbers. Anyway, anyway, they go, Why don't you try calling KLM, which is what you flew in on? I go, Yeah, but we bought on delta, whatever it was. We got to it. You know, it's so we were in Croatia. This is when we stop and say, Thank God, these are our problems. Thank God, Borok Hashem. Thank God these are our problems. Borokashem.
SPEAKER_01Anything else about Croatia you want to talk about? Croatia. We went with our two friends, Peter and Subman. Our friend Kelsey was also there, right? His crew.
SPEAKER_00So we've been to Croatia twice before, but on a yacht. Straight up. I'm not a different experience. We're just not gonna even like a beater on the bush. We were there on a yacht, invited on a yacht. Invited on a yacht. We didn't rent the yacht, and then but the yacht goes right to where these towns that we were staying at, and you and the the little dinghy, the little boat brings you to the shore. You do a lap around the town, get a gelato, get a gelato or not, and then you get back on the boat and go back to your floating home that you're on. And you know, this is the first time we were living on the island, we were living on the I nailed the accommodation. Yeah, but we we I what at one point I said I said to you, I said, Um, hey, you know, we've done this where we're on the boat, we had everything, and now we're here living it, and like we're a part of the community. I go, like, um, were we really happy when we were on the boat? And then we just said deliriously from shit's creek when they had that line. Yeah, yeah, there's it there is no way to see anything in the world better than seeing it through a yacht. There's just there's just nothing better. It's just pulls up, that was it. But uh Leo is there the one of the biggest gifts Leo has is finding Airbnbs or homes for us to stay in when we do things like that. We if there was no international love festival and we just had this house on this island, it had been a vacation. That's why, yeah, that's why I went.
SPEAKER_01That's why we did it. Yeah. Because I was like, if the music sucks, at least we'll have this nice house. It was fun, it was a good trip.
SPEAKER_00But getting back to the International Love Festival, so I was on the older spectrum of the people there. Okay, and then there was really young. There was like really young. And what was amazing was that they were like the it goes 24 hours, the festival. So they just check in, there's a beach, they come in and out of the water, they go on the dance floor, they come back. We we were in our house, you know, the sun went down, we showed up, we did our dancing, and got into a a big fat car that brought us home, which by the way is the scariest thing. You're coming back from this rave, and you are now a 20-minute drive on uh it's giving Grace Kelly coastal highway turns and zips and zags.
SPEAKER_01Right.
Yacht Travel Comparisons And Festival Youth
SPEAKER_01I mean, we just had Taylor Swift's wedding here in New York City. We don't have anything to even talk about because there's been no pictures released, there's no nothing nothing to latch on to.
SPEAKER_00No, we well, you I loved how you were you knew what was gonna be happening. I called it for I knew. You knew that it was gonna be Madison Square Garden because it's a fortress and they can get in and out and no one's gonna bother them and they can't helicopter paparazzi it.
SPEAKER_01And uh I just feel like we had to talk about it because we have famously said that this is a Swifty friendly podcast before Swifty friendly podcast, and we can't not acknowledge that that just Adam Sandler officiate, a Jewish guy.
SPEAKER_00She could have had you. She could have had me.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. What would you have what would have been your approach to the Taylor Swift?
SPEAKER_00Oh one big Mashiach energy, the way she has her fans uh yeah, that she deserves this

SPEAKER_00kind of love, and hopefully it'll create more Mashiach energy. And um, and I would tell her again, I would give her our our you know, he said to her, Adam Sandler said Adam Sandler said to them, kiss as often as you can. Right? I would tell them our advice, which is moisturize, hydrate, and be nice and be nice to each other and monetize each other. I think they've
Mateo Lane On Broadway And Dream Roles
SPEAKER_00nailed the monetize the monetize, I don't think they need any help with.
SPEAKER_01Um we saw our friend Mateo Lane slay the house down boots in Broadway and Chicago as Billy Flynn.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. And when you see Matteo Lane playing Billy Flynn, you think, how could anybody else play this character? So true. He was so good. I he it was as though when they wrote this play in 1864, it's the longest running one of the longest running. It's been on Broadway before broad when it was just broad, before before it was away. And you would think when they wrote this play, they've said, and we we have a role for Mateo Lane that only Mateo Lane can play. He's such an amazing singer. His voice is crazy. The voice, the movement was great. He looked great. He he nailed notes that I don't think other Billy Flynn's were able to because we've seen other Billy Billy Flynn. We've seen other Billy Flynn's. Yeah, we've had a few friends who played. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Uh Mateo Lane, in case you don't know, is a stand-up comedian who's amazing, who's a friend of ours, but he's also a very talented singer. I mean, he can do everything. He can cook, he can yeah, he's an artist. And he collects pokeybowls. He likes Pokemon, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Pokemon, Pokemon, he likes it.
SPEAKER_01I thought that was interesting how he, you know, he obviously does these giant theaters all over the world as a stand-up comedian, and then now he's in Broadway and he has to work with all these other people on stage and do, you know, it's not just the Mateo show. So he was kind of talking to me about that. I thought that was interesting. How I think you could do it. I could do it.
SPEAKER_00You could be on Broadway. I I could be on Broadway. Can I tell you what was interesting? Was the last time we saw Chicago, we saw it with our our friend Cuba Gooding Jr. was in it, and I just felt like it was so huge. And now since I've been doing massive theaters, it seems so small. Yeah, it seems like much smaller.
SPEAKER_01And but uh it's always interesting going towards a theater as a civilian. Yeah, though.
SPEAKER_00And we went with our with our agent, Michael Grinspan, so it was fun to do that, and we had dinner. We had a full Broadway night.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, if it's worth go seeing if you if you're like who you should go check out. I think it's ending now, actually. Never heard. No, he's done.
SPEAKER_00I think he's done or one week left. Um he I can't believe how great he was. And but we had no idea, we had we had no doubt he would be. But Mateo Lane slayed it. He's just so talented.
SPEAKER_01What would you be if if I came to you tomorrow and said, Modi, I have a Broadway role for you. What what are you hoping it is?
SPEAKER_00Oh, it would be Tevia.
SPEAKER_01Fiddler on the Roof. Fiddler on the Roof. If there's any producers out there doing a revival of Fiddler on the Roof, I don't know if we can do Hebrew, we can do Yiddish.
SPEAKER_00I don't, but we need money. I don't think that that that pays a lot. That doesn't pay a lot. A one-night only event. Wait, wait, we were backstage after the show, and Mateo did it eight weeks. We were standing there with our touring agent, and it's also Matteo's touring agent, and Mateo goes, I should have done this for a lot longer. And the agent's like, Okay, oh, or just eight weeks is fine too.
SPEAKER_01No, I gotta get you back on the road.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah. We need to yeah, Broadway is Broadway. There's the set price of what you can make.

Tour Dates Shifted By The Jewish Calendar
SPEAKER_01we did move two shows, um, Nashville and Raleigh, North Carolina. Those are being moved to November 10 and 11. Can I talk about what mistake I made? Sure.
SPEAKER_00When we book shows, our agent m Michael finds the dates. Here's a great routing, here's everything. And he was are these dates good in the Jewish calendar? He has a calendar that has the obvious, the Rosh Hoshana, the Yom Kippers, but then you have the ones that aren't so known. And I look I and it's my job to look at it, to see me to in a Jewish calendar, and I was definitely looking at the wrong place or the wrong year or the wrong month. And we booked uh Nashville and Raleigh, North Carolina on Eriv, the night of Tishabov, and Tishabov itself. Like the the two dates in the world that you cannot do a show. Like, like like like like there's no two dates you cannot more do. You could either easy easier to do a show on Yom Kippur than to do it on the Tishabov is is a sad holiday, obviously.
SPEAKER_01It's a it's not a joy, joyful holiday. Yes. And uh so but it's not like that there were zero tickets sold, like a chunk of the room people were gonna come.
SPEAKER_00My audience is not an orthodox Jewish audience only. It has people who don't know what a what Tishabov is.
SPEAKER_01That's what was interesting, was that yeah, it wasn't it wasn't like, oh, there we're not moving any tickets, what's going on? But we just realized it was Tishabov, so we bumped it.
SPEAKER_00I was so I'm so sorry if anybody did, and we've obviously they've contacted you and we're removing the dates and you your money's being get a refund or go to the new date.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it's it and it's yeah. And then after that, you're in Sacramento.
SPEAKER_00And by the way, can I just can I just tell you something? God has been sending me little energy and little messages that things are okay. Like what? Like what? When we had to cancel this, I then looked on my Instagram and I saw Andrew Schultz had to move dates. Yeah, I was like, oh, okay, I'm not the only guy moving dates too. And then we met Des Bishop in the street right before we were going on vacation. And I feel like when a comic goes on vacation, you feel like, how am I ever gonna get back on stage? How I'm gonna forget how to hold a mic, I'm gonna forget how to, you know, to take more than three days off for a comic is so hard. And Des is like, yeah, I'm going to West Hamptons for the for the for the summer. I'm like, what? He's like, Yeah, I put a special. Out. I'm going to West Hamptons. Goodbye. I'm like, I'm wow. Yeah. You're itching to get back.
SPEAKER_01I can't, I can't. So you have Sacramento, Portland, uh, later this month in July. And then that's gonna be you working out the new hour. Yeah. Um, where do we go after that?
SPEAKER_00And then we have those uh the the Nashville and Raleigh's.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that's not that no, those we move those to November.
SPEAKER_00We have a lot of private events.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Toronto, right, Montreal, Ottawa. A lot of things happening. And there's certain there's other cities on the website that you can sign up for the waiting list for.
SPEAKER_00Can I tell one more story about the Croatia thing that really blew me away?
Ravine Mopeds And Social Etiquette Rules
SPEAKER_00As long as it's not about the Uber drivers.
SPEAKER_01No, it's about the Uber drivers.
SPEAKER_00We were there and we knew people. We we came with a group and we knew another group, and everybody introduced this is my friend, that's our friend, this and that. And then we see this one like patch of like in their 20-year-olds-ish, and they were a little bruised up. So I I like they were right, but they were just they were on the beach and they were gonna go dancing later, but they had they were more than bruised up. They were a little bruised, like they were bruised up, banged up, banged up, and our friend said, Yeah, they were on a moped that going back and forth to where they're staying, and they fell off the cliff into like a 20-foot ravine, right? And they with the bike on top of them, and we look at them and like we wave and they just go, Hey, what do you call this little sign? I don't know. The high, the the the the thumb in the pinky out. What's up, like as though nothing happened. I mean, could you imagine somebody like our my age? For there'd be physical therapists involved. There'd be these guys right back on, as if nothing happened.
SPEAKER_01Full road rash on their shoulder, full road rash on their hip, like full. It was gnarly.
SPEAKER_00It was crazy, but it's it, it's is it they were like as though it never happened. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01So I wrote down two things that I wanted to ask you about. So we was you were just speaking of all everyone introducing each other on the dance floor. Yeah. And you're meeting your friends of your friends and all that stuff. If someone comes up to you and says, Hi, I'm Leo, and then you're like, hi, I'm Modi, great to meet you, and then you realize two minutes later that you forgot what your name is, what their name is. Of course. Which happens. I mean, it happens to everyone. Do you feel like it's rude to say if it's within five minutes of the original introduction, to say, I'm so sorry, what was your name again? Is that I do, and I just say, I'm sorry, I didn't hear you. Yeah. I'm sorry because that happened to me where I went up to someone, I said, I'm so sorry, what was your name again? And they got kind of like a little bit offended. They're like, You forgot already?
SPEAKER_00Right.
SPEAKER_01And then I said, Okay, thank you. I'm Leo. And he goes, Yeah, I know you're Leo. Right. It was like very I was like, ooh, is that rude?
SPEAKER_00Well I it it's not rude. You can just it like there should be habits you're you're you're asking again. I was trying to learn everyone's names. It takes me a it takes me a minute. It takes a long time, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and then what about canceling plans? So if you have dinner plans with someone and you cancel like a week or more in advance, yeah. That's not rude, do you think not at all? A week is plenty of time. If you give, especially if you give if you offer up an alternate date to reschedule. Yeah, why did someone n nasty about canceling something? No, because I had a di I planned something. Actually, it's happening tonight. Our friends are coming over, and I had to reschedule this originally, but I let them know a week before. Yeah. That's fine. Yeah, but why why why are we even worried about it? Because I was just thinking, like, how what I'm sure people have input of of what they think about it.
SPEAKER_00A week is plenty of time. It's the day of the same time.
SPEAKER_01So when do you think when does it become a problem where you're like, oh, that's annoying? Uh day of a day of, a day before.
SPEAKER_00Do you think even like three days before you see? No, three days before is completely fine. Okay. Especially if they're not like traveling for it. They live in the same city. It's a casual dinner. It's a casual dinner, yeah. It's very, very easy. Um uh wait, on the dance floor, also again, we were dancing uh during Pride. We we went out one night and we were dancing with our friend Neam and Kyle, because we just saw them, we had a few moments, and then one of their friends comes over to me and introduces him and says, Hi, and it's somebody that I know, but he's it was pitch black on the dance floor. It's the moment when the lighting guy just turns all the lights off, so it's pitch black, and he's wearing a baseball hat that's covering his face, and he goes, Hi, you remember me? And I couldn't even see his face. And I'm like, um uh uh uh no? And then um, and then he just like he's like I couldn't see his face. I was in shock, and then I see him going over and even going, he doesn't remember who I am. And I walk and I go, then I saw who it was. I go, Are you kidding? Oh yeah, I'm not gonna get away. Are you kidding me? You come you come with you with a mask, your whole face covered with the hat. You also only met him like twice before. No, but I met him where at a point I know who he he he was. He was at their wedding, he was I know who the guy is. Um, but uh but like it's like then you'd be offended. I'm never offended if someone doesn't know who I am or doesn't remember who I am. And I don't know. But people get very, very insulted.
What We Are Watching Right Now
SPEAKER_00I watched a show called Tires. Shane Gillis? Shane Gillis's show. It's on Netflix or HBO. It is on Netflix. Okay. I didn't watch it with you. I believe it's on Netflix. I may be wrong. I watched it, I binged it. It's 20-minute episodes, and they're great. I've never seen anything match a comics stand-up, like a show match a comics stand-up. You know, the first time I believe that they started doing that kind of stuff, well, the first I can remember was was Bill Cosby. Bill Cosby had a comedy special, and then they built the whole family, the Cosby show around it. Yeah. Literally, he was talking about living with his kids and all the stuff that they were doing, and and they built a show around it. But this Shane Gillis, Shane Gillis's comedy and what happens in the show is so it's like almost a direct link. It's yeah, and it's as though he just he's like, here's you're in this space now where he's doing this, that one's doing that. Do stand up. And he was great, and the all his friends that are in it are all amazing, and it's funny, and it's 22 minutes, and it moves. I just watched one episode after the next, after the next, and they were great. I highly suggest watching Tires. I did not think it's a show I would get into. It was so good. And another recommendation I have for everybody is um it's Florida man. Oh.
SPEAKER_01I didn't think I don't have to watch that because I grew up with Florida Man. Yes.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. By the way, all these things are in my living room and on the back of a plane. So this is not like wherever where I'm not investing a trip to a theater or anything. But it's Florida Man is so good. It's these crazy stories by people in Florida, and then they have comedians acting out. Like, you know how they do like the it's like a documentary, dramatization. A dramatization, exactly. And they had Nick Swadron, they had Nick Thune was on it, and he looked exactly like the guy that was telling the story. So Nick was acting it out. It was so good. Bro Chrysler was in there, Tiffany Haddish, Joel Kim uh Booster was in it too. And and the stories are so insane and they're so funny, and it's again quick. It's quick. Florida's a crazy place.
SPEAKER_01Florida is a crazy crazy place, energetically a crazy place. Right. Something going something.
SPEAKER_00There's a there's a one of the episodes had a guy that sells pasta, pista, and cobras, like the snakes. Pythons. Pythons.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, so did you know that so pythons are an invasive species that people started releasing in the Everglades because they were buying them as pets and then they would get too big. Right. And there's nothing to eat them in the Everglades. So now they're eating everything and destroying the Everglades. So you can actually some parts of Florida have like a bounty on pythons where if you go out and hunt them, they pay you like, I don't know, twenty-five or fifty bucks a python. Right. And people go out and they just catch a bunch of them. It's crazy. And so some of them are huge.
SPEAKER_00No, this guy caught one of them. Well the the in in this episode, the guy that was on it was living in some they went to the Everglades, like 90-minute drive into the Everglades. Yeah. And um on an airboat. Right. So I have it, and I have no desire to. And it's so cool. It looks very mosquito-y and very gross. And it the when you're on the airboat, the mosquitoes can't get you. And so he he they they went there looking for Skunk Man. No, Skunk Man. Skunk Man. Skunk Man?
SPEAKER_01She said that on purpose. No, I don't know. I don't know. I thought it's skunk it's Skunk Man. Skunk Man, which is a a variation of Bigfoot.
SPEAKER_00It's a Bigfoot, exactly what it is. So they went out there, him and his he met a guy, he moved it to this neighborhood in some Pachukakuka, Florida, and then they went to the Everglades to look for Skunk Man, and they decided to do a lot of mushrooms before they went looking for him. And then he thought he saw him, but it wasn't him. And he was wrapped and thought he was fighting with him, but he had a python wrapped around him. His friend comes and sees him, sees him. He had a little knife that he bought in a gas station and began to just stab the python and killed it. And then they brought it to uh this place that sells pasta, pizza, and pythons. And and that the and the that exists. Yeah. That exists in Florida. It was just crazy stories. It's a great I just highly recommend it if you it's easier to follow than Game of Thrones. That much I'll tell you.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I've been trying to get into House of the Dragon, House of the Dragon. Even though I didn't really watch Game of Thrones. But it's kind of interesting. It's hard to follow a little bit, the whole family trees and everything.
SPEAKER_00I feel like the the thing that gets me the most is there's a queen now. Yeah. And she has a husband who's not the king. And it's the same guy from the crown who was the husband of the queen, but not the king. Oh, he was the king. Or the he was the Duke of Edinburgh Park. Okay? That's who he was. He was no king, he was no nothing. He was a Duke of something or else with a few extra titles, but not king. She was the queen. So this is the second time he's playing married to a queen, yet not.
SPEAKER_01He's playing the same character in a different costume.
SPEAKER_00Yep.
SPEAKER_01But not in a bad way. Literally slays it. No, he's killing it.
SPEAKER_00They all have the same thing look and you the same manner as well. And they could say anything, and you pretend you you you're following the house of Igor, bring me Igon, bring me Igor Igon, and then and the the actress who's playing the queen has some amazing acting moments, though. Yeah, and they're lit beautifully and they're stunning, and the costumes give it. Give it to you with the dragons. The dragons give it to you too. And all you can think about is that they have no hot showers. Like, how are they washing themselves? I'm so nauseous. The thought of it all, I'm just throwing up the world. Yeah. So that was um Ryan Hamilton has a new special that I watched. And I will say to you, Ryan Hamilton is one of the funniest Goyam working today. He is hysterical. The special is amazing. He's such a he's so goyish, but in the most loving way in the world. That's really likable. He's the most likable I've ever, but he's so and it's a great special. And the timing and the cadence and the laughter is on beat and on schedule. And I highly recommend seeing he's on the Netflix. Um, I forgot the name of it, but it's it's I think it's it just hit me or something.
SPEAKER_01It just hit me because it's about how he got hit by a bus.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah. I remember when he began working this thing out two years ago. The comedy seller, and now to see it so perfect, really just perfection. It's just great. So happy for him. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Should we keep going? I mean, yeah. It sounds like you're just doing recommendations now.
SPEAKER_00I am.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
Devil Wears Prada Sequel Debate
SPEAKER_00I because we've been having travel time and we were gonna do Devil Bears Prada. What were your thoughts on it? Okay. You you saw it in a movie theater.
SPEAKER_01I did see it in a movie theater with it was a private movie theater though. It was only me and my sister. So it was like this new thing they have in the city. Where uh you go into a private little it's like an eight-person studio uh theater, and they serve you food and stuff. That's where I saw it. But Devil Wars Prada 2, let's get into it. Okay, Devil Wars Prada 1, amazing movie, cultural touchstone. I mean, m montages, Stanley Tucci, uh Miranda Priestley, looks, fashion, uh, everything is amazing. The Devil Wars Prada 2 didn't really give it to me. I mean, we have to talk about how Anne Hathaway is aging in reverse. And so ditto to Stanley Tucci. Um my god, what am I Meryl Streep also looks amazing? Yep. I don't know what deal with the devil devil wears Prada, I don't know what deal with the Devil Who Wears Prada they all made, but they are aging in reverse. But the storyline was a little too on the nose with like the cultural commentary, because it's basically kind of poking fun at Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez a little bit if you look at it. Yes. If you watch it, and I wonder how they feel about that, but um what did you think of it?
SPEAKER_00I saw it in our living room, yeah. And I think it was the best thing I could have ever seen.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, but the fashion shots, there was no respect for the fashion shots. And anytime they showed fashion in the show, aside from like one or two runway scenes, like there's a scene where uh Miranda Priestley is with Mark Jacobs, and the fashion that they're talking about is just this hideous, ugly thing, and then they're in a boardroom and they're reviewing a shoot that they just did, and it's like horrible. Right. Everything is bad. It just the fat and and the people in the office aren't really giving looks.
SPEAKER_00But that's what happened. That's what that's what happened since the last Devil Wears Prada.
SPEAKER_01Fashion has just become talked about that one of the last podcasts, which a lot of people got touchy with on YouTube, by the way. I mentioned how we lost a lot of taste and like cultural uh reference points with the everyone who died of AIDS.
SPEAKER_00Oh, people said something about that? No, the people had what to say, yeah. People had what to say, yeah. Really? Yeah. Um uh please feel free to say whatever you want, and please also feel free to kush and took us.
SPEAKER_01Um that's there was some funny parts where Miranda Priestley, Meryl Streep, has to uh overcome some political correctness in her dealings that were funny, which is the same way you did you treat me.
SPEAKER_00Like, it's not how you say that, you can't say that. Yeah, she she she had an assistant next to her just says, that's not how we say that. That's not that's no, those aren't the words we use to describe that. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01And like I've heard that from the shoot is very body negative. Shoot no body positive, body positive positive, yes. All shapes and sizes, right? Very, it was very no, I thought it was great. No, but even okay, when they when Andy goes to her house in the Hamptons and she borrows from the iconic sample closet at Vogue, yeah, and Stanley Tucci's like hooking her up with these different outfits, it's not it'sn't even like a good outfit. Right. Yeah, nothing will beat the Chanel boots from the sir from the first movie, right? That scene where Emily Blunt goes, Are you wearing the and she and Hathaway goes, The Chanel boots? Yeah, yeah, I am iconic.
SPEAKER_00No, but they the way they brought in that uh the girl who was the first the first Emily. I thought it was great. I thought it was just great. No, it's it's it's easy watching. It's just it's easy watch. What did you think of Lady Gaga's cameo? Amazing, amazing. Lady Gaga she loves to act, she's amazing. She killed it. The song was great, she was great, her looks were great. That's did you ever watch the A Star Is Born with Bradley Cooper? I didn't. We should watch that. Yeah, that's good. I will, but but Gaga gives. Gaga just gives. Yeah, it was good, and Madonna's giving.
